And once in a while, we even stay in Singapore (for a whole weekend)

So if you read our other posts, you know that in the spring, we had quite a few foreign adventures…but in between we squeezed a few fun times in Singapore

March included the annual hot wheel car tournament in preparation for March Madness, a visit to the Airforce Museum, showing off our photography skills on Marina Bay, discovering the best burgers and the goofiest milkshakes in Singapore at Black Tap, a few festivals (including a wild set of night floats on Orchard for the Chingay festival and second one to learn more about our buddy Raffles at the Asian Civilisation Museum) and manning the scout tents at the Singapore American Festival.

Jack couldn’t sit still for too long so ventured to Kuala Lumpur for the FOBISIA Math Tournament where he competed against international schools from all across Asia. His team won 2 bronzes in different events and came 6th place overall for teams and the school got 4th out of all the schools. they competed in events like a hunt for numbers through the aquarium, a poster solving 4 difficult math problems, making geometric shapes with only a compass and straightedge, and a card game where you must make the four cards add, subtract, multiply, and divide to 24.

Dad had a few excursions on his work trips, to see a giant Vishnu statue in India and fishing off the coast of Jeju island in Korea (and a quick shot of a mosque in Jakarta)

April had a goofy Easter celebration, viewing Endgame on opening night and saw Ben get his official cricket hard ball gear.

In May, we focused on food-street food that is-excellent street food that is – as we found some delicious Roti Prata at SpringLeaf Prata, surprisingly good chicken rice in Far East Plaza and continued our quest for the best dumplings in Singapore…(Swee Choon still in the lead but with good competition from the Alexandra Hawker Centre)…Jay went camping on Paula Ubin (as patrol leader), Bee dominated in the Pinewood Derby and Dad taught geocaching merit badge. Oh course we lived and died with the 76ers..even the pancakes got into the act. Also made trips to the Bird Park, Discovery Museum and the River Safari.

May and June also were the months where Bee got to try cricket in real games. Bee had been practicing for months before but had his very first real game on May 12th. it was super awesome but was really stinking hot! Unfortunately he got out on the 1st ball when batting. He ended up play 3 games and got a ton of playing time. On the 3rd game bee got 11 runs on just 8 balls (a great run rate) and got his teams 1st 4 (like a home run)! He also nearly hit a kid’s wicket to get him out while bowling!

In June, we did a big family bike ride, rocked an Apple photography class, took a trip to the zoo, and spent a weekend showing Mr. Discovery how we roll in Singapore- including Little India, Chinatown,Arab Street, Gardens by the Bay (super trees) and Marina Bay – for the Merlion by night!

Finally, spent Father’s Day weekend back in Bintan, for some wild water sport action. The only reason we went was because mom had a free night coupon for Marriot and we probably stayed at the coolest one in history! It was a glamping hotel with meant that you stayed in a permanent tent with had a bathroom and a real bed. We even grilled on an open charcoal fire in front of our tent- satay, prawns and of course smores! They had a bunch of cool things like a 3 story high water slide! They also had one of those water obstacle courses that we also did. We also tried a new sport: Wakeboarding! We had lost of fun skipping over the water and trying not to fall over 20 times in a row. We both are now pretty good!

June also included some great year end events for the boys to finish up awesome years in school. Bee had a class assembly where he did an awesome rap and solved a hard math problem! He also had a Greek day where they dressed up as Greeks and presented all their gGeek work that they had done. They made shields, wrote myths ,made pots and made 3D electronic temples! Jay shot off to Malaysia for his residential and had lots of fun doing all the activities on Tioman Island, including a 3 hour hike, jumping into the ocean and snorkelling and seeing a Hawksbill sea turtle. We also took a long kayak trip as well as learning about the endangered turtles on the island. It was a lot of fun and a great (almost) end to the school year. Jay also dominated by winning the Year 7 & 8 award as the top math and music student! Way to go!
