This summer was fun and eventful! between going to camp and taking vacations we had a great time. we have made some posts about the other big adventures we have gone on this summer but now we are going to cover all the little things.

drone camp
the first camp we decided to do was drone camp and it was pretty fun! the first day we learned about how a drone works and played one the drone simulator. on the second day we did practically the same thing but also watched some ted talks and tried flying the drone a little bit, it’s harder than it looks! on our third day we tried programming the drone a little bit and also flew it a little. on the fourth day we programmed the drone all day and got it to go through a really hard obstacle course. on the last day we played with and airblock drone (a drone that you can build, fly, and when it breaks you can redesign) and had a race. after that we had a drone race through an obstacle course and i (jay) won! i rone through the course in 19 seconds but was given a 5 second penalty for not landing on the landing pad, so 24 seconds in total.
That weekend, Dad and Jay took our first bike ride – right down the Singapore river- great ride and managed to avoid hitting any pedestrians- not an easy feet..Mom and Bee tried their hands at baking- very healthy cheesecake brownies…Another highlight for a weekend was a trip to Sentosa island to check out Singapore beaches (pretty but because of the views of oil tankers they were were not as nice as Thailand, Indonesia or Malaysia)…We also saw what they called continental Asia’s most southern point..but we think its a bit of a stretch as Singapore is actually an island…

cooking camp/drama camp
this week me and jay split up and i did cooking/baking we made cupcakes, burgers, cakes, cookies, frostings and more! on the first day we made made mac and cheese, lime cream cheese frosting and hummingbird cakes. the next day we made burgers, pizza and more cookies. on Wednesday we made rainbow cupcakes, rainbow cookies and more tips of frosting. On Thursday, I made MORE cookies, cupkakes and one more tipe of frosting. on friday we had the main event… cooking for the parents!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was on pankakes/crepes duty (well me and 2 other kids but they both didint know how to make pankakes so I endend up doing all the work).as in drama camp I had a great time doing all sort’s of fun drama exercises and to top it off had one of the lead roles in the sneetches (i was Sylvester McMonkey McBean) and had a great time.Â
Cousin Arsenal came and visited us this week as well- he even got to show us his fancy hotel- the ShanGri Lai..rumor has it he even got to stay in Trunp’s room. One night that week, we heaed over to the Botanic Gardens and Cousin Arsenal helped us set up (and untangle) the pirate ship kite we got in Bali. Then we headed down to Newton Circus and enjoyed the local faire. On our last night with Cousin Arsenal, we actually got to see Arsenal play Athletico Madris. They lost 1-1, 4-2 on penalties- despite our chants of Cech, Cech, Cech to encourage their goalie Petr Cech (props to Cousin Arsenal for knowing their goalie’s name). The National Stadium, where they played was pretty cool- retractable roof, held 80,000 and they displayed the word “goal” everywhere on that rare ocasion when someone scored.
That weekend held some more family fun, as we went to the rehearsal for the National Day celebration on Marina Bay- packed even though it was only the 1st rehearsal session for the real August 9th event (Practice man, e we talkin bout practice…not the real fireworks man, not the real fireworks, we talkin about practice)..The practice was complete with militray displays and very cool fireworks- also got some good night shots of the famous Merlion
The next day, we used our Friends of the wildlife pass to check out the River Safari- very cool animal park with awesome fish and some things you wouldn;t expect to see in a River Safari- like monkeys, snakes and pandas.
That night as an early Bday present to Jay, Bee, Jay and Mom went to see the Lion King – only after he solved a crazy 3 part riddle that Bee set up (Dad had to leave a work trip). The Lion King was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our favorite parts were the “Be Prepared” song and the how they localized the story- like saying if they fired Zaziki- he would have to go back to Jurong Bird park. The costumes didn’t try to look like actual lions- just used very cool masks and clothing designs to symbolize the animal

Movie Making Camp
Our last week of camp was the goofiest- held at a weird arcade/play center- but we got to make 5 different short movies. The two “real-life” movies were about secret agents and zombies. The stop motion movies were about “a very lucky sailor,” “two dinosaurs fightings” and “a car race” (we will post them soon on our youtube channel as soon as they’re ready)
August was filled with trips (Western Australia, Bali- Part III and Bintan)..but we squeezed in a trip with our guests to the night Safari (where Mom learned she has a fear of bats), Netwon Circus and an appropriate holiday trip (on a Hindu Festival called Hari Raya Haji) to the Harry Potter Cafe, Platform 1094 (they didn’t get an official license). The meal was complete with a literally burning chicken, butterscotch ale and plenty of magical deserts (that were in Headwig’s bird cage)…and we got dress up for some cool photo-ops!
