Deja Vu all over again

Bali!

August 15

Today we arrived back in Bali and immediately drove to the safari and marine park. At the park we took a short “safari” and then saw a very cool elephant show and another animal show with a huge eagle and a monkey who broke open a coconut. After that we went to our really cool villa,  which had 6 bedrooms and a private pool!

On the second day we mostly stayed at the villa. we went swimming a few times and read a little bit. We also went for a quick dip in the ocean and sat on the beach. Also I should mention that dad wasn’t here until the night of the 16 (tonight).

Today we took a long (carsickness inducing) drive to an ancient village called “tenganan aga village” where we hired a guide who took us through the village, showing us the houses and the way that they make the special fabric that they only make in three places in the world. he also showed us the people doing engravements on palm leaves and the bright-colored chicken they used for chicken fighting. After that we took a quick drive to a very cool restaurant overlooking a huge pond filled with lily pads and lotus flowers. The restaurant was appropriately named “the lotus lagoon”. after that we drove to the highlight of the day, the water temple”tirta gangga” . In the water temple there was a few huge ponds and one with stepping-stones you could walk across and feed the fish in the pond.  There were also very cool statues and bridges everywhere, Shortly after that we went to a place where we saw them making salt near a black sand beach. They took sea water, filtered it, let the water evaporate, and then scooped out the salt. It was very cool

Today we went down to the beach and found a giant chess board and played a few games. Also we took a long drive to a water sports place that smelled really bad and took a nerve-wracking banana boat ride through the boats and crab traps. After that we headed back to the villa and went to a really good Italian place.

August 19

Today we went back to Tanah Lot where we explored the rocks, which seemed more covered in algae than last time and went to the top of the cliff.  After that we went to La Lucchiola  and went swimming for a while with some strong waves to ride. After de-sanding we headed to the restaurant on the beach for a beautiful sunset,  live music and fireworks (one exploded on the ground!). After that we said goodbye to Sarah and Charlie, who would stay in Bali for another 5 days and got on the plane and flew back.
