Temples and Seafood on the Coast

The last day of our Bali adventure again began with swimming in the pools at the resort and then round 2 of the crazy buffet..then off to a short stop where there were 5 places of worship – all of different denominations (Hindu, Muslim, Catholic, Protestant and Budhist) all right next to each other…very cool indeed!

Our next stop was Ulu Watu temple, an amazing temple suspended high on a cliff above the sea.  Waves were pounding the coast and we got awesome views in the bright sunshine-absolutely amazing…a cool walk along one of the cliffs took us to this small pool where the monkeys were taking turns cannon-balling into the water- looking just like little kids as they splashed and played in the water…some of them were more naughty then others as we saw them steal both a lady’s shoes and someone’s iphones (travel advice- do not ask a monkey to take your picture- even if he promises to give your phone back)…

After Ulu Watu, we went further up the coast to Pandang Beach a very cool surfer beach where we saw folks riding the waves and enjoyed a few more Bintangs…our last stop was an awesome seafood restaurant where they set tables up right on the beach..then you pick your seafood right out of the ice box, they cook it up and serve it to you fresh…2 kgs of shrimp never tasted so good…trip ended with a bit more of an adventure, as we saved 30 minuets to travel the 2 miles to the airport…but traffic ground to a halt…luckily we made it to the airport with minutes to spare to catch our flight back to Singapore!  What a week! (and a few old pics of when we were here 5 years ago and Ja and Be were much cuter- and you can meet our guide big K)..and what a way to celebrate 4th of July!

Many moons ago…

back to the present….

From Na and No’s perspective:

Last day in Bali – Last days in Paradise are hard but we filled it with some more unique sites and experiences. No liked the spot where 5 houses of worship, yes, 5 different religions, occupied one large parcel of land (and parking lot!) not far from the resorts.  Very thoughtful and inclusive!  Further on, we stopped at one more temple, Uluwatu, situated high on a cliff over the most beautiful turquoise waters. Framed by bright flowers and steep drops, the view was amazing. More monkeys, vendors for last minute shopping, and a gorgeous walkway around the site. Perfect!

And then there was the surfer beach…cool drinks under umbrella-ed tables, a good view of the surfers, and some splash time. Na: I’ll forgive you for the climb! It was very pretty…

Back to the beach for our dinner, fresh seafood, and chicken satay for Na. So pleasant. Was tempted by the vendor next to us selling roasted corn. Next time!
